My great-grandfather worked at the Fulton Cotton Mill on DeKalb Avenue in Atlanta. He was a kind man, with a third grade education. Crawford Evans had known the hard life. He was one of ten children. Like so many families, after the Civil War, his parents, poor South Carolina farmers, came to Atlanta to find work.
