There is no “Public Square”

We need a public square for genealogy work.

Elon Musks refers to Twitter as “the public square.” A more accurate statement would be Twitter could be one of the major public squares on the Internet.

Ideally, the Internet is the public square. It is like an encyclopedia, historical and scientific reference books all wrapped into one. We can cross-reference the material for errors, and opinions.

But genealogical research has its own special place, in that people who search for names, dates and places want the truth. So, they carefully…
