The Revolutionary War: Northern Campaign

Although there was armed conflict beginning in 1775, the official War for Independence did not commence until July 4, 1776 when George Washington began to create an army in Boston. He evacuated the city in March of 1776. The British fleet descended upon New York in August of 1776, and their superior naval power led to victories on Long Island and Manhattan.

The Northern Campaign amounted to battles in New York, White Plains, Philadelphia, Trenton, and Quebec. 21
