The Mourning Dress

The mourning costume was popular from the 17th-20th centuries. It represented a trend followed by family, friends, and neighbors. There were traditional gifts. A pair of white gloves, for instance, might be provided to the children, while rings were sometimes given to close relatives. such funeral items were passed down and inherited.

It is amazing what can be learned concerning people who lived in the past. Because they did not have modern technology to plow the gardens, build the cities and educate the children is not an indication that they were simple people. Since its founding, this country…
