The Frightening Aspects of War in America and Who Will Push the Button?

With the threat of war in the Middle East, American involvement, and the recent deterring of Iranian missiles, do we sit complacently in front of our television sets with the idea that we will suffer no harm? Sure, America and Europe can put down some missile attacks. But what about the biggest threat to mankind? You know, Nuclear War?

Many years have passed since the War of 1812, when the British attacked Washington, D. C., and burned some buildings and valuable records. Luckily, that war was mostly fought on the high seas.

But before that, a war with Great Britain was fought on the American Continent. It was a time when Tories and Whigs lived together, just like Democrats and Republicans exist today. But when the redcoats landed and began their attacks, the population also went to war. There was no Atomic Bomb then, and the musket was an inferior weapon, yet that event caused a lot of misery and deaths.

When the British captured Savannah, patriot families scattered while loyalists remained in their homes.

The Georgia families of Mclntosh, Twiggs, and Clarke, with numerous others, experienced dire hardships. Colonel Twiggs, while removing under the protection of a flag, was fired upon, and a young man was killed. The escaping family of General…
