The history of Tennessee is more interesting than most people realize. The eastern portion of the state combined with the western portion of North Carolina to create the temporary State of Franklin. For this reason, genealogists must bear in mind that their ancestors might be found in either State. It will take some time researching, but I assure you that the results will be interesting.
Just about every wagon trail crossed the old Wilderness trail to far-west Virginia bearing new settlers. Along the way, settlements arose, Indian wars, and finally the American Revolutionary War.
