When Governor Berkeley sent his troops to capture Nathaniel Bacon and hang the rebels, Jamestown burned down. Actually, Nathaniel Bacon took matters into his own hands when the Royal Governor refused to send his army after the marauding Indians in the region who were harassing settlers. Instead of being a hero, he was accounted as a traitor and the governor sent his troops after the rebels instead. Bacon was ill and soon died, however…
