Did you get lost while researching your ancestors?

Sometimes genealogists get lost in the research process, not knowing which way to turn. I have seen fat notebooks with handwritten notes. Such notes were tenderly kept by relatives and others. We did not always have the typewriter or computer. Yet, people still kept their own private records. THe bible was a popular record of close kin.
