Battle of Fort Morris November 2–5, 1778

This battle occurred at a fort erected by the British ca 1741 and was used to protect the settlements in Savannah and Charleston from the Spanish in Florida who frequently sent “Spanish Indians” into the territory to plunder. It was later used by the Americans during the Revolutionary War. The structure of old Fort Morris still remains. It is on the highway from Darien, Georgia, in Liberty County.
